Wolfowitz blames media for flap, resignation
Source: AP

LONDON (AP) — The outgoing president of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz, denied his actions were the reason for his departure and blamed an overheated atmosphere at the bank and in the media for forcing him to resign, in a radio interview broadcast Monday.

Wolfowitz, who has announced he will step down June 30, told the British Broadcasting Corp. that he was pleased the bank's board accepted he had acted ethically, and in good faith in his handling of a generous compensation package for his girlfriend and bank employee Shaha Riza in 2005.

"I accept the fact that by the time we got around to that, emotions here were so overheated that I don't think I could have accomplished what I wanted to accomplish for the people I really care about," he said.

~snip~
In the BBC interview, Wolfowitz denied suggestions his decision to leave was influenced by an apparent lack of support from the bank's employees.

"I think it tells us more about the media than about the bank and I'll leave it at that," he said.

"People were reacting to a whole string of inaccurate statements and by the time we got to anything approximating accuracy the passions were around the bend."

11. Yes, republicons never accept responsibility for their failures
That is one defining characteristic -- republicons are major fuckups who like to blame others...witness their "hero" - commander AWOL. All the proof any sane person needs.

3. The media outside this country which is independent and not owned and
controlled by American corporations? The republicans can control some of the message some of the time, but until Rupert Murdoch owns every single media outlet, there will situations like this. I'm surprised that Wolfowitz gave them their due for doing their jobs. And it reminds us that if the media is doing its job correctly, you have a well-informed populace able to lobby their representatives and have discussions about corruption in the system.

4. What I find amazing-is it called Stockholm syndrome?-
is that the pukes are constantly attacking the media, in the media and elsewhere, while the dems tend to defend and be subservient to the media, yet that same media kowtows to the pukes and attacks the dems. A classic case of "bully-ism" if there ever were one.

Of course, "we" on the web attack the media but they-the media-don't yet consider us to be beyond the pissant stage. We are not a credible influence, or so they believe.
The real difference is that we, or at least the we in liberal bloggerland, have proof, ample proof, of any contention we make and are ready and willing to back it up.

Democratic officialdom needs to attack, publicly and relentlessly, and not relent-it's the only way to get attention and respect from a bully.

12. I have dealt with puke followers that do the same thing, the country's broke why?
Because the liberal media stabbed shrub co in the back and he had to spend all of the country's surplus on welfare. Yeah 8 trillion dollars went to welfare. Seen the same people whine and bitch about job loss in their state then blame the Governor for the state lossing jobs. Then in the next breath they then say theres plenty of jobs in the state just people are to lazy to get off their sofa's because getting welfare is easier to live on. then when you post facts about their trueisms, they pick your post apart after they make a personal attack and say you attacked them. Always victims, never take responsibilty are two descriptions of the party of Lincoln today. I bet he is rolling in his grave watching the actions of his party.

Personal responsibility is an anathema to these crooked bastards.

Mister Repuke piddle ass is really in a stew
Wondrin' what the younger generations coming to
And the taste of his martini doesn't please his bitter tongue
Blame it on the rolling stones.

Blame it on the stones; blame it on the stones
You'll feel so much better, knowing you don't stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the stones

Pickles tells the ladies at the bridge club every day
Of the rising price of tranquilizers she must pay
And she wonders why the children never seem to stay at home
Blame it on the rolling stones.

Blame it on the stones; blame it on the stones
You'll feel so much better, knowing you don't stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the stones

Wolfie's at the office, nightly working all the time
Trying to make the secretary change her little mind
And it bothers him to read about so many broken homes
Blame it on those rolling stones.

Blame it on the stones; blame it on the stones
You'll feel so much better knowing you don't stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the stones

Blame it on the stones, blame it on the stones.

This is yet another example of a Nazi Republican blaming the so-called "liberal media" instead of himself.

Is there not ONE Nazi who will take any responsibility for their actions? Not One???????/

24. Dread and gossip -
I'm dreading the next 'reward' given the architect of war in iraq - he who contributed to the riches in the pockets of the no-bid contractor-buddies - those who feed and thrive on death and usury.

Does anyone have the gossip on his live life - are they planning to enjoy their last month together and then split - or will she follow him to the next job - or he follow her? Naturally, he will probably have free transportation to commute to her for awhile. Just asking gossip questions.

Also, does anyone know how her legal problems turned out - is Victoria's work done - did the girl friend win or lose? (Victoria as in Victoria Toensing who went to Brussels with the girl friend to defend her against 'conflict of interest' by working for two companies at the same time - and receiving double benefits and all - or something like that).

25. Paul Wolf -ooh - Quitz blames the media
It was CNN who gave his girlfriend the raise?

It was Der Spiegel that made him cuss out the others at the world bank
and say "If they fuck with me I will fuck them right back."

Just like Iraq Paul can not accept his mistakes.

BTW  Some Euros told Paul 1.5 months ago that he was not welcomed

28. I'm curious about where Mr. Wolfotwit
will appear next?

He seems to be a little bit of a job-hopper. When he was Under Sec. of Defense, he was moved out after 2 years. Seems there was a little problem with Iraq.

Next, he was moved to the World Bank. Seems there was a little problem with his girlfriend, this time. He lasted 2 years.

I'll help you with your resume, Paul.

I know someone who works at the World Bank. He told me that the employees celebrated at the news of Wolfie's resignation.

And don't forget how this story broke...from a leaked memo from a bank employee.
