Details are sketchy. Here's all they are saying so far

Frankfort (AP) -- A grand jury investigating state hiring practices in the administration of Gov. Ernie Fletcher has indicted the governor on misdemeanor charges.

Fletcher was charged with criminal conspiracy, official misconduct, and violating the prohibition against political discrimination.

The grand jury also handed down 14 sealed indictments.

3. The story
Frankfort (AP) -- A grand jury indicted Gov. Ernie Fletcher on misdemeanor charges Thursday, accusing him of illegally rewarding political supporters with state jobs since taking office two years ago.

Fletcher was charged with conspiracy, official misconduct and violating a prohibition against political discrimination.

For nearly a year, the special grand jury has been investigating whether the Fletcher administration broke state law by basing personnel decisions on political considerations.

Thirteen other current and former administration officials and associates were previously indicted on misdemeanor counts, and the grand jury handed down another 14 sealed indictments Thursday.

8. Wasn't it just last year?
Fletcher was denying all charges, insinuations and innuendos, claiming they were all just political rumors to hurt his re-election chances? I'm sure the entire state is holding its collective breath waiting for Fletcher's apology. Hence the term "Kentucky blue."

FRANKFORT, Ky., May 11 -- A grand jury indicted Gov. Ernie Fletcher (R) on misdemeanor charges Thursday, accusing him of illegally rewarding political supporters with state jobs since he took office two years ago.

Fletcher was charged with conspiracy, official misconduct and violating a prohibition against political discrimination....

"This has been a politically motivated, media-driven investigation from the start," Hall said. "Governor Fletcher has said repeatedly his conscience is clear. He has done nothing wrong."

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Isn't that what they all say? Including DeLay?

The Corrupt Governmental Ruling Elite needs accountability, and
nothing does it like an indictment.

14. Indicted governor will seek 2nd term
FRANKFORT, Ky. - Gov. Ernie Fletcher said he will complete his first term and seek a second one despite an indictment on misdemeanor charges that accuse him of illegally rewarding political supporters with state jobs.

The embattled GOP governor was charged Thursday with conspiracy, official misconduct and violating a prohibition against political discrimination. A conviction could lead to jail time and his removal from office, according to the attorney general's office.

On Friday, Fletcher urged cabinet secretaries not to let his legal troubles distract them from their work.

"We cannot allow these sorts of actions to harm our efforts to move the state forward," he said.

Absolutely asinine, But Kentucky voters will likely re-elect him. Guns God and Gays trump all else. What's a little corruption between cronies anyway? :puke:
