(Katherine) Harris drops L-bomb on Sen. Nelson
Edited on Thu Apr-20-06 02:48 AM by JI7
:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

<After months on the defensive - her Senate campaign battered by staff defections, upside-down poll numbers and financial woes - the Sarasota congresswoman is calling Sen. Bill Nelson a "liberal." It's a theme that echoes ex-Sen. Connie Mack, R-Cape Coral, and Gov. Jeb Bush, who won in 1988 and 1998, respectively, by tagging Democrat Buddy MacKay "liberal" in both races.

"Don't be discouraged when liberals say we are going to lose, because we're not," Harris told about 50 women at a buffet breakfast. "History shows that when we turn out our voters, we win."

"In 2000, you guys elected a president - not the Supreme Court, you guys did it," she said. "By a margin of votes that they counted time and time again, no matter what they did, George Bush was elected president."

"Think about the consequences in 2008," she said. "Do you think our country would have been safer with Al Gore as president? Do you think our economy would have been stronger with John Kerry as president? That's why this race is so important."
Nelson has also been stumping across North Florida during the congressional recess. His campaign manager said Harris was relying on a time-tested GOP formula by hurling the "liberal" label, but he predicted it won't stick.

"People like the job Bill Nelson is doing in Washington," said Clanton. "He has a 30-year record of common-sense, centrist leadership and Katherine Harris knows that.">

7. Why so shocked...?
Republicans will always use the "liberal" label on their opponents if they think it will help them win.

The greater shame applies to certain (and far from few, sadly) Democrats who have spent their entire political lives running away from "the L-word," thus reinforcing in the public mind that it is something of which to be ashamed. :grr:

by most especially JEB BUTTSINSKY BUSH who recentlya advised her that her campaign is not about her, "it is about bill nelson"... i wondered then what sort of swift boating of nelson they would come up with... the answer was not long in coming as reported in this thread. there is no end to the evil of the bushes who do not know one cintilla of what truth is about since all they know how to do is to lie. but, perhaps they do know what truth is about and they know that truth would never give them a leg to stand on, nor a chance for any of the offices that they push themselves into. BUTTSTINKY BUSHES ALL=FOUL ODOR IN THE AIR.

edited to add: NELSON HAS NOT GOT A LIBERAL'S HAIR ON HIS BODY at all...he is more like a republican in democrat's clothing.

3. The only real question in this race, I feel, is whether Katherine Harris
survives the Florida primary.

The national party wants her out. Nelson, by no means a "liberal," is going to crush her in November.

The GOP has really dropped the ball so far in this race. No red pick-up here.

Nelson widens lead over Harris in Senate contest

By BRENT KALLESTAD
Associated Press Writer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- With her campaign struggling to raise money and friends, U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris has lost more ground in her bid to oust Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in November, according to a poll released Thursday.

Nelson was favored by 56 percent compared to 27 percent who preferred Harris in a random telephone survey of 951 Florida voters taken between April 11-17 by the Quinnipiac University (Conn.) Polling Institute.

"It's a tough environment for Republicans now," Harris said Wednesday when asked about the latest numbers. "I'm confident that we'll continue to only go up."<<

21. History shows that when fascists like Katherine Harris deliberately
and illegally delete legitimate Democratic voters from voter rolls, republicans win.

If Al Gore had been President, 9/11 would never have happened, and we would not be mired in the quicksand of a needless war that is sucking us down into a dark hell of eternal national debt. Islamic terrorists would not have increased in number a hundredfold, and our nation and world would be far safer if Bu*h had not driven the Islamic world into frothing anger by his arrogant invasion of a sovereign nation that was not a significant threat to our country.

Our country is a total mess right now, and even republicans are starting to wake up to the fact that the mess was caused by incompetent and/or corrupt republican control of the WH and Congress. If the truth were told, in all probability our country would be in far better shape if liberals were in control of our government.

And the fact is, Bill Nelson is not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination.

Katherine Harris, by committing the crime of electoral fraud when she was Secretary of State in Florida in 2000, is primarily to blame for the mess this country is in right now.

I totally agree with this. But the sad truth is that if Al Gore were President, Republicans would still be arrogant pricks just as they were with Clinton, believing in their folly and acting persecuted because they don't have the freedom to rape and pillage as they have done these last six years. Unfortunately, they'll have to experience the hell they make in order to see the errors of their ways. But everyone suffers for their arrogance and stupidity, because we are all in this together.

28. She also took a swipe at Senator Martinez (R)
Or is too stupid to realize it-

>>"I think he grandstanded on offshore oil drilling," Harris said in an interview with the St. Petersburg Times during a campaign tour of North Florida. "He comes up with this inane bill that accomplishes nothing, that he knows is dead on arrival from the onset, but uses that to grandstand as though it is some solution, even though it was drafted poorly."

She was referring to Nelson's bill with Republican Sen. Mel Martinez that would ban oil drilling within 230 miles of Florida's West coast. It was introduced with fanfare in February but has failed to get many Republican co-sponsors. Harris said Nelson should have supported a less-sweeping compromise last fall that would have banned drilling within 120 miles of the coast unless the Florida Legislature agreed to allow it closer.<<
http://sptimes.com/2006/04/20/State/Harris_calls_Nelson__.shtml

and this is good.
Senator Nelson's office responds to her calling him an "empty suit":

>>Asked about Harris' comments Wednesday, Nelson spokesman Dan McLaughlin called them "empty charges from an empty candidate with absolutely no ethics or credibility."<<

"empty charges from an empty candidate with absolutely no ethics or credibility."

"empty charges from an empty candidate with absolutely no ethics or credibility."

"empty charges from an empty candidate with absolutely no ethics or credibility."

32. St. Pete Times: Harris calls Nelson 'an empty suit'
April 20, 2006

GAINESVILLE - Rep. Katherine Harris called Sen. Bill Nelson "an empty suit" and said he spends too much time grandstanding.

Harris, a Longboat Key Republican who is running against Nelson, described him as "all talk and no action." She said he should worry less about getting on TV and more about passing bills that help Floridians.

"I think he grandstanded on offshore oil drilling," Harris said in an interview with the St. Petersburg Times during a campaign tour of North Florida. "He comes up with this inane bill that accomplishes nothing, that he knows is dead on arrival from the onset, but uses that to grandstand as though it is some solution, even though it was drafted poorly."

snip

Harris said that as a member of Congress, she focuses more on results than media coverage. "I don't have to have newspapers and camera crews going along with me. I think it's important that you just do your job."

Republican Senate candidate Katherine Harris chats with The Gelato Company owners Chino Leong and Joseph Kearns in downtown Gainesville on Wednesday afternoon. Harris spoke with several small-business owners in the area as part of her campaign tour.

>>Diego Ibanez, manager of Emiliano's Cafe, said the recount was what he thought of when Harris entered his restaurant to introduce herself Wednesday.

"I remember (her) from the past election," he said. "All the scandal."

But Ibanez, a registered Democrat, said he was impressed to see Harris pounding the pavement and would keep an open mind about the November election.

48. Harris is threatening * and the Republicans, clearly stated. Here's how:
""In 2000, you guys elected a president - not the Supreme Court, you guys did it," she said. "By a margin of votes that they counted time and time again, no matter what they did, George Bush was elected president."

She's raising the vote count 2000 scam as a threat. "Support me or I'll let something slip." This is actually a very high level negotiating tactic. You state something very favorable about your target, favorable but with a fatal flaw. The message: cut the nonsense and get me the nomination or something might just "leak." This is a very edgy tactic, born of desperation. They'll ignore her. Let's see if she's got the guts to follow through.

53. Harris doesn't slip.

But she does deserve all the support Bush can give her. After all, the lesser thugs, those infamous "screaming window bangers of Miami" now have control of the White House. The entire Bush clan owes her their gratitude. Where are they now?

60. "L-bomb"? So now the word "Liberal" is as bad as the "F-bomb"?
Fuck that. I'm a Progressive Liberal and damned proud of it! I wish Nelson were even a bit liberal-half the time he votes with the repugs.

61. So Nelson's a liberal, eh?
Harris is too dim to realize is that she is a neocon lackey, who would come in last place in a transsexual beauty contest. Spend your money like a drunken sailor on the Florida senate race, Kate. I am looking forward to seeing you OUT OF WORK and in the POORHOUSE!!!!
