In reply to the discussion: Thread to discuss sexism and misogyny you encounter on DU. [View all]redqueen
(115,103 posts)15. The same kind of crap was said about Palin.
Back when Michelle Malkin was first hitting the scene (with her bizarre anti-Democrat 'cheer'), someone here posted that he'd "do her, if she kept her mouth shut." IIRC, that post was hidden, but several other DUers began discussing Malkin in much the same vein. I was ridiculed for addressing these juvenile, sexist attitudes, particularly because they were slamming Malkin and considered her fair game.
Except I seem to remember some of the oh-so-important commentary about what conditions she would have to meet for men here to ... whatever... were often left to stand.
Then there was a picture of a republican commentator whose image was photoshopped into a pornified pic by that piece of shit larry flynt, and many men had absolutely no problem with it. Probably some women too.
Speak out about that kind of misogyny and you get accused of 'defending republicans'... sheer idiocy.

it is the language used that is bothersome and indicative. how to shut down. how to leave open.
