He said he was well aware that it would be possible for VAN to know he had accessed Clinton's data, and he did it in order to prove that there were ongoing problems with the firewall, as reported by the Sanders' campaign in Oct. (The breech occurred over a 40 min. time frame, according to MSNBC).

If what he says is true, then it's obvious that he made a serious mistake. If he was up to dirty tricks, he still made a serious mistake. I hope it was the former and not the latter.
