David Brock's group IS coordinating with the Hillary campaign. Bernie fights back. [View all]

Last edited Tue Sep 15, 2015, 03:14 PM - Edit history (1)

David Brock founded Media Matters. He is running the group Correct the Record which tried to smear Bernie Sanders for helping the needy in Vermont with heating bills ( I believe at that time our own country was cutting back on their help).

Hillary Clinton plans to coordinate directly with super PAC

Hillary Clinton's campaign intends to coordinate directly with a newly formed super PAC able to receive unlimited donations, according to a Washington Post report.

The Democratic presidential candidate's campaign will work in conjunction with Correct the Record, an independent rapid-response team, previously a part of super PAC American Bridge, which conducts opposition research on Republican presidential candidates and possible GOP presidential candidates. The New York Times first reported Tuesday that Correct the Record would split from its parent organization to support the Clinton campaign.

Though Federal Election Commission (FEC) rules prohibit direct coordination between super PACs and declared candidates, Correct the Record believes it will be able to coordinate with Clinton without violating campaign finance regulations.

David's group played some (IMO) dirty tricks.

A Pro-Clinton Super PAC Is Going Negative On Bernie Sanders

WASHINGTON -- A super PAC backing Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is going negative, circulating an email that yokes her chief rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to some of the more controversial remarks made by Jeremy Corbyn, the United Kingdom's new Labour Party leader, including his praise for the late Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan leader who provided discounted fuel to Vermont in a deal supported by Sanders.

Clinton's camp has long said it has no plans to attack Sanders. But the super PAC, called Correct the Record, departed from its defense of Clinton's record as a former secretary of state in an email Monday that compares Sanders with Corbyn. Correct the Record, led by Clinton ally David Brock, also has sent trackers after Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.

The Democratic candidates have refrained from criticizing each other directly. Sanders has obliquely knocked Clinton for not stating her position on the Keystone XL pipeline, and hasn't made an issue of her use of a private email server and account while at the State Department. Clinton, in turn, almost never mentions Sanders' name and has focused on her Republican rivals.

Monday's Correct the Record email strays from that pattern. The email, sent to a Huffington Post reporter in response to an article about Corbyn and Sanders without any agreement that it would be off the record, was meant to flag Corbyn's "most extreme comments." Among those was the suggestion that the assassination of Osama bin Laden was "a tragedy," since there was no attempt to arrest the former al Qaeda leader and put him on trial. The email also cites Corbyn's comment that he'd invite his "friends" from Hezbollah to come to the U.K. to discuss peace in the Middle East and an editorial in which he said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's "attempt to encircle Russia is one of the big threats of our time."

And Bernie Sanders speaks out:

Sanders goes on the attack against Clinton

Bernie Sanders spent his summer rejecting attempts by journalists to goad him into a fight with Hillary Clinton, saying he liked and respected his Democrat rival and wanted the campaign to be about ideas and not personalities.

But the Vermont socialist appears to be fed up with niceties after a pro-Clinton super-PAC reportedly shoveled dirt on Sanders to a reporter.

In an email to campaign supporters on Tuesday, Sanders linked Clinton to three things her campaign has been trying to disassociate itself from: Wealthy donors, dirty tactics, and yes, even the biggest bogeymen in left-wing American politics - the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch.

Sanders wrote in the email: "Yesterday, one of Hillary Clinton’s most prominent Super PACs attacked our campaign pretty viciously.

"They suggested I’d be friendly with Middle East terrorist organizations, and even tried to link me to a dead communist dictator."

Bernie has a Superpack, not a Super Pac.

Got this in the mail, didn't scan very clearly. But the play on words is obvious.

And the back side.
