Scott Brown: 'I'm not dead' [View all]

By MANU RAJU | 2/6/13 6:13 PM EST

Former Sen. Scott Brown wouldn't say Wednesday whether he's considering a run for Massachusetts governor in 2014, but he suggested in an interview that his political days aren't quite over. "I'm not dead," he told POLITICO when asked whether he'd help the Republicans win the Senate seat vacated by John Kerry.

Brown announced last week that he wouldn't run for that Senate seat, something he said he reached because of the grueling nature of successive campaigns. But he predicted he would have won this year's special election had he run, despite losing to Elizabeth Warren last year.

"People forget I did a state Senate run, then the special, then the general, then it was a special, and then I would have won that, then a general again," Brown said in an interview in the Capitol Wednesday. "It’s too much."

Asked if he would jump into next year's governor's race, Brown demurred.

"I’m not going to comment on any future races at all. I’m just focused on doing some things that I’m very excited about," said Brown, a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard who was wearing a military uniform. "That’s it."
