The "what ifs" were tried and failed miserably.
All the Republicans who would supposedly vote for Kasich or Marco or Jeb were barely able to give them even single digit wins in the Primary. Every mentioned substitute candidate dropped out mid election after devastating, humiliating losses to the Orange Menace. These also rans have not suddenly become popular with the vast majority of the GOP. The "establishment" GOP is gone in the wake of Obama. They lost any semblence of a base and the lunatics have been running the asylum since the rise of the Tea Party.
As for changing horses in mid stream: Not sure what mental gymnastics advocates of this strategy are using to come to a "winning" conclusion other than desperation. The same vast majority of Republicans who voted against Kasich, Jeb and Marco in favor of Trump would be even less likely to vote for them now. And based on their proclivity for violence and guns, might even stage an armed Tea Party Trump styled militia and protest.
As for Hillary's "negatives", of course there are many. There will always be haters. At the same time, there are millions more who love her and trust her. That is why she is winning and by a lot! No matter what or who they throw at her at this point, she will trounce them, just as she has been doing.
