2016 Postmortem
Showing Original Post only (View all)Clinton needs Sanders on her ticket to win [View all]
Without Bernie Sanders on the ticket as the VP candidate, Hillary Clinton will probably go down in flames. With him, Trump loses badly.
What a great VP Sanders would be, because as president of the Senate, he would advance a great progressive, solution-oriented agenda. Bernies ability to further advance his reforms would make a quantum leap from platform planks to actual legislation.
Such a ticket would pick up 80-85 percent of the Sanders supporters. I am a member of 800 Bernie groups on Facebook, some virulently anti-Hillary. If he is not on the ticket, a lot of them will go for Jill Stein, or will write in Bernie....
Clinton may already recognize that her election depends on Bernie Sanders being on the ticket.

Indeed. Hand-wringing doesn't help when times are good nor when conditions are adverse. . nt

Clinton already has 85% of Sanders supporters. Sanders would be a horrible VP.

I don't think that the writer of the piece knows what "the president of the Senate" actually does

Does Hillary Clinton think Sanders is just a gadfly? If so, why does she want him to speak on

One of the things I feel might hurt Hillary Clinton is her and her staff's feeling of being superior

You do realize that Clinton won voters making under $50,000 by 11 points right?
