The "we never said that" game [View all]

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by In_The_Wind (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum).

My final OP in GDP this election season.

I love that so many insist on the spinning of their vitriol and attack on Sanders this primary campaign season.

Many have kept better records that me and none of us will soon forget or forgive so easily.
To date, Sanders has been called:

A rapist (rape apologist, all implicitly or explicitly)
A racist (either implicitly or explicitly)
A sexist (implicitly or explicitly)
Draft-dodger
Tax fraud
Socialist
Communist
Un-American (again implicitly or explicitly)

And the worst of them all:
Attacking his Jewish heritage (living in a kibbutz for a year) and going so far as to use anti-Semetic, neo-Nazi, Holocaust-denial hate sites like tomatoebubble to attack a Democratic candidate of Jewish heritage that had family murdered in concentration camps.

No, don't use "Berniebros said this and that" because that is an excuse children use. That makes it even worse. That excuse means you are just saying stuff out of revenge or to just be cruel or plain mean-spirited.

I will not forget or forgive those attacked Sanders like you did. Attacked me and other Sanders supporters like you did for supporting him. Not in a healthy campaign way but with right-wing talking points like "free stuff" and poor-shaming poor and middle-class people.
The anti-Semetic hate-sites, poor-shaming and "free stuff" memes were the most disappointing takeaways from this campaign season. It has changed how I feel about a lot of things. There are no excuses for it.

I know who I am and what I have stood for my whole life. I know I made mistakes this campaign season and for that I humbly apologize.
Sadly, many of you don't see what you did as wrong or worse "justified".
That really is sad.

As I will in every post I make as long as HRC is in office:

"It's easy to talk about the virtues of compromise when you are not the one being compromised."
