with no real explanation as to the "why" other than the usual fear of the unknown.
I grew up in a fundamental church. I've read the Bible through, several times. The only truly devout person I have ever known was an elderly Jewish man with whom I was acquainted in the early 1970s.

As did I. But I found that the "usual fear of the unkown" is the basis for most belief in a god.
