(28,112 posts)97. My nephew and his friend were recently driving through a local suburb
my nephew is a pasty faced Irish guy in his 30s, his friend is also in his 30s and not a pasty faced Irish guy.
Let me stress - my nephew was the driver - and he notices a cop behind him. No worries, not speeding, they hadn't been drinking but all of a sudden the lights go on. Nephew pulls over and the cop finally saunters up to the RIDER'S window and asks for his friend's iD. Never asks nephew for any information.
Nephew was shocked, sadly his friend was not. His friend says he doesn't get stopped too often for no reason - unless he's driving his mother's Cadillac (his mother does not get stopped when she drives it because she is white). Though the friend did say it was the first time he's been stopped for "riding while Black".

That was my first thought too. They see eye contact as fear of being stopped.

One of my best friends in law school, a white guy, was continuously stopped by the police.

Contrary to what the poster says, I think we already know BS when we hear it. Not feeling the Bern.
