(39,171 posts)100. I favor legalizing drugs because of the financial drain on America
and because I oppose all the time and effort the justice systems spends on non-violent offenders. Focusing on violent offenders would give you the lower crime rates you crave while leaving the vast majority of lawful gun owners alone.
Europe does not have violent drug gangs running rampant in their cities. They also have robust social safety nets that give young men (who are the most violent segment of society) alternatives to selling drugs. Why don't we emulate those aspects of Europe instead of simply adopting their gun laws?
