You're the one who implied that Chicago made the choice to have it's anti-gun laws:
The people did make a choice. It's just not YOUR choice. So you don't like it. Bummer.
And you were correctly told that Constitutional rights are not a popularity contest subject to the whims of democracy, or referendums, or anything else short of Constitutional amendments.
The people of Chicago can't vote to contravene the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms any more than the people of California should be able to vote to contravene the right of people to marry whoever they want to.
