they may be progressive (even that is debatable), but they are not liberal. Liberal means more individual freedom and reason over dogma. Gun prohibitionists/gun controllers use arguments that have no basis in reality, appeal to emotion by exploiting fear and ignorance, and are highly dogmatic. One only has to look at the name calling at the other group. Same narrow minded bigotry, different other.
