(13,685 posts)You got it. These cores are constantly creating heated water.
It is out of control. The nuclear material is generating heat. That's what nuclear power plants do: Heat water.
The yellow that we see surrounded by normal temperature water is just surface water, like I said in the OP. It may be at most a few meters in depth. The science depicted in the picture is this: Sea SURFACE Temperature Anomalies. SURFACE. Not down deep. Surface.
The cores are underground now and there have been signs of steam releases in a similar fashion as that of "Old Faithful". A burp here and a burp there.
But what the cores have done is heated a massive amount of water up just a few degrees - say 20 - and now that water is seeping into the ocean and the satellites are seeing the extra heat.
