In reply to the discussion: Philly Soda Tax Would Punish the Poor | Bernie Sanders [View all]Major Nikon
(36,827 posts)19. Spare me the guilt by association nonsense, please
Regardless of who you think agrees with my post or not, you certainly didn't post anything that contradicts it. Just one can per day is already slightly greater than the average soda consumption per capita in the US. By any measure that's a lot of soda. So yes, lots of soda = bad. An occasional soda = not so bad.
I'm also pretty sure your unreferenced source of the data you are quoting doesn't say what you think it says.
Everyday we're drinking less & less sugary drinks in the US as a population - that's only bad for the industries selling it.
Not when those same industries are also selling the alternatives.

I disagree with him here. Soda causes health problems, which costs people in many ways.

It's more accurate to say the excessive consumption of soda may cause health problems

If I eat 100% whole wheat breads I spike just as highly as I do with white bread.

Soda is a very high profit item its from a syrup mix, thats why it's pushed for sales.

Bottled water is even more so because you don't even have the expense of syrup
