Is he saying it's better to have the children have empty souls and empty stomachs? Unless he went on to advocate expanding services for the poor to ensure they can afford brown bags and food from home, I'm not following. I'm sure some will say it was him advocating having loving families, which is fine, but love doesn't buy food.
