In reply to the discussion: Local Jews in shock after Ukrainian city of Konotop elects neo-Nazi mayor [View all]Behind the Aegis
(53,994 posts)23. Once again...uh, no.
"YOU just used antisemitism to try and paint someone you disagree with (who is actually better informed) and you are way out of line."
and
"Anyone can go to the site and look for themselves and see who is seeing this with bias."
Wow! We agree on something!
Now, let's look at your previous claims:
"The fact is that Russia has a lower rate of antisemitism than much of the EU." post #10 (I added the bold.)
I corrected that with: "Almost half of the EU has higher rates, some by only a few points, and 16 have lower percentages and with the exception of Greece and France, all of the EU countries with higher percentages of anti-Semitism than Russia, were once under the influence of the USSR/Russia, and in some cases, were part of the USSR." post #16
Members of the EU:
Bulgaria (44%)
Croatia(33%)
France (37%)
Greece (69%)
Hungary (41%)
Lithuania (36%)
Poland (45%)
Romania (35%)
RUSSIA (30%)
Austria (28%),
Belgium (27%),
Czech Republic (13%),
Denmark (9%),
Estonia (22%),
Finland (15%),
Germany (27%),
Ireland (20%),
Italy (20%),
Latvia (28%),
Netherlands (5%),
Portugal (21%),
Slovenia (27%),
Spain (27%),
Sweden (4%),
UK (8%)
Slovakia (NL)
Republic of Cyprus (NL)
Luxembourg (NL), Malta (NL)
Eight (8) higher than Russia, 16 less than Russia -- members of the EU
You claimed: "Antisemitism in Russia is lower than in most of Europe." post #13 (I added the bold.)
I corrected it with: "ETA: You claimed "Antisemitism in Russia is lower than in most of Europe." and again, I say "uh, no." 34 countries were reviewed, 12 were higher than Russia, which means 21 were lower. That does not indicate your claim in the least." post #16
European countries in the ADL review:
Bulgaria (44%)
Croatia(33%)
Serbia (42%)
France (37%)
Greece (69%)
Ukraine (38%)
Belarus (38%)
Bosnia & Herzegovina (32%)
Hungary (41%)
Lithuania (36%)
Poland (45%)
Romania (35%)
RUSSIA (30%)
Moldova (30%)
Montenegro (29%)
Switzerland (26%)
Austria (28%),
Belgium (27%),
Czech Republic (13%),
Denmark (9%),
Estonia (22%),
Finland (15%),
Germany (27%),
Ireland (20%),
Iceland (20%)
Italy (20%),
Latvia (28%),
Netherlands (5%),
Norway (15%)
Portugal (21%),
Slovenia (27%),
Spain (27%),
Sweden (4%),
UK (8%)
European countries surveyed by ADL:
Twelve (12) were greater than Russia, one was equal to Russia, and TWENTY (20) were listed as less anti-Semitic than Russia!
"How about South America?...Asia has a number over 50%"
Oh, changing the goalposts?
"Russia certainly is higher than the states and most of the G8 but it really is not significantly higher than the majority of Europe and it is lower than the East Europe average. "
And yet, that isn't what you originally claimed.
As for my comment about your using anti-Semitism for purposes other than expressing disdain for anti-Semitism....
"One of the reasons I have been interested and posting here is because of the things I see in media that I know to not always be the truth." post #10
And I see you added...
"I did not post the OP to make a specific Point about antisemitism per se." post #19
