(32,017 posts)I think of the nearly-bloodless shift of power in the U.K from the House of Stewart to parliament that occurred in 1688. Parliament selected a new royal family (William and Mary of Orange), booted the Stewarts, and effectively created a democratic Union that was much less a monarchy and much more a constitutional monarchy. The fact that the revolution was nearly bloodless is why it was called "glorious," I think.

If that's what we mean by "glorious," a bloodless shift of power from our oligarchic monarchs to the people, then yes. I would love to have that kind of revolution. If we're talking about a very bloody revolution that yields a well-intentioned but ruthlessly totalitarian state (i.e. the U.S.S.R.), I'll pass.
