(18,318 posts)...so, it might be relevant to speculate on why MSM chooses not to exercise its agitprop role. Perhaps because:
A). Ratings might be less when compared with the Election Narrative;
B). The "mass murder" definition has branched out to the all-new "mass shootings" and "active shooters" categories. To put it bluntly, there is a definitionally-based muddle whereby MSM has (inadvertently?) taken the shock value out of one of its chief go-to issues;
C). It didn't happen in a school or mall, so there isn't much fear factor;
D). I don't know the racial angle, but whites doing this usually get broad coverage;
E). It appears that CelebroPunk® styles of slaughter may be shifting toward a drive-by/Uber amalgam, and MSM hasn't had time to digest this into its gun-control narrative;
F). MSM may finally realize that more coverage of these incidents -- always with attendant anti-gun commentary -- may only fuel gun sales and hone the effectiveness of pro-2A organizations.
People need to ask themselves Why they want massive MSM coverage of this sad tragedy (not that there shouldn't be any), and what good will come of it. In the end, MSM has always been the stalwart gun-control institution.
