Do what your doc says, eat healthy, take your meds, and walk a lot.
That's what my surgeon told me on his last visit. Walk, walk, walk, then walk back!
No kidding it really works.
Went from a 35% ejection faction, to 55% in two and a half years after the surgery.
Was on the borderline to have a defibrillator placed inside to them releasing me from the CHF system.
Get a Fitbit and a dog, both need to be walked and are great motivation.
This year since January 15 when I got my Fitbit I have walked the length of Italy, 736 miles.
Take an iPod with you when you go to the hospital. It keeps out the crazy noises that go on in the ward. Resting after is the best thing. Going in to your own world and shutting out the rabble is key.
