(32,886 posts)Conservative media managed to convince a significant percentage of the populations that Obama, a moderate Democrat, was a radical. There would be no need to convince anyone with Bernie, he is as far left as an elected official gets in the U.S.
He wouldn't get anything passed with Republicans controlling either house of congress let alone both. His numbers would be so bad by that time that we would get 70 Republican senators and a similar percentage in the house after the midterms in 2018 who would then pass bills as they saw fit over his vetoes. In 2020 we would get a Walker or Cruz elected in a landslide.
A Bernie nomination and/or Presidency would hand the Republican machine everything they ever hoped for in terms of ammunition for demagoguery.
If you think Republicans fear Bernie then you haven't been paying attention to how the right operates at all.
