(34,648 posts)You all barely know how to put them in. We don't go to white ladies to get our hair done. We come up with techniques that you guys could not invent.
Do you really think we learned how to do weaves from white folks? No. You have to attach hair and corn row the hair into a pattern, sew it together, then sew tracks of human hair onto the cornrow. You know nothing about black hair if you think its appropriation. It is assimilation. We needed to have our hair to look more like your to fit in. We actually get paid better if our hair looks more like yours. Its assimilation.
Now, not knowing anything about it, and not bothering to ask and just assuming you know is ignorant.
You wanna know about black hair? Ask black people. Don't try to talk about us behind our backs and get your laugh on.
White people constantly use our hair, speech, mannerisms and mode of dress as a source of endless mockery and amusement. This has been going on for centuries.
You certainly would not walk into a salon I use and say that stupid shit. First of all, everybody would laugh at you, then if you kept it up, you'd get handled.
