You and Asahini Kimi are most welcome! We have talked about four bajillion times about how sick and freaking tired we are of the portrayals of black people in movies and tv. We're either maids, criminals or helping white people "find themselves" (as in The Help, Bagger Vance, Ms. Daisy and a jillion other films). JustAnotherGen has talked so much about how much she hates The Help she could write a PhD thesis! And she is BY NO MEANS the only black woman that has SERIOUS problems with that movie.

I have also personally discussed my dismay at the portrayals of Asians in film and have talked a lot about how insulting and upsetting it was to me that all of the main characters in "Memoirs of a Geisha" were CHINESE! http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1187&pid=4844
