War is an occasion for acts of courage and self-sacrifice. It is also an occasion for acts of hatred and murder. So I do not uniformly commend or condemn veterans. My grandfather was a courageous warrior, but he despised war. My friend only managed to kill an innocent bystander, and he hated his "service" in Iraq. There is no one-size-fits-all response to those who participate in war. I treat each veteran as an individual.
