(4,775 posts)but use an argument like that? There are many other factors, your example is in no way a legitimate way to evaluate any possible dangers of thimerosol, you would need to examine all factors and tease out the effects specific to thimerosal. Not trying to be rude, but that seems pretty obvious.
I don't claim to know if thimerosol is potentially harmful though I suspect that it way well be. I understand the interest society has in people getting vaccinated, but I don't think we should ignore or gloss over potential risks to achieve that end, especially when it's about something as needless as a preservative containing heavy metal.
Thanks for reminding me about mercurochrome, somehow I hadn't even realized what it was. When I was a child my parents would fairly often apply it to our wounds.
Several in my family (including myself) have some kind of issues that appear to be (but may not be) autism-spectrum type things, fairly minor so we present as more or less "normal" but have real life issues from it, and it is for this reason that I pay some attention to these kind of issues, it might be more important to us than to others, honestly I don't know but caution seems wise.
It's sad that Jenny and that bogus doctor got themselves positioned as leading activists on these issues, they did us all a disservice. That doesn't mean we know the full story about such things, though, and should not be used to close the book on it.
