Is trump's acquittal really so bad? [View all]

I'm clearly not happy about no witnesses being called during the Senate trial. However, I do think the Managers did a great job. I would have loved to see trump convicted, but....

Let's think about something: in order for trump to get the acquittal, he had to throw the MAGAts under the bus. In fact, through his lawyers, he did that during the trial. I didn't watch the entire trial, but I did catch instances where trump's lawyers slammed the insurrectionists. That, plus the fact that hundreds of insurrectionists are facing criminal sentences with no pardon from trump, strongly suggests to me that the MAGAts can't be happy with trump. He left them to twist slowly in the wind.

Non-MAGAt Republicans like McConnell despise him also. And of course we Ds despise trump.

Isn't that another way of ruining trump? He effectively has no group who supports him except his henchpeople. So has he, in effect, been informally impeached and convicted?

Thoughts? Happy Valentine's Day!
