Showing Original Post only (View all)Does anyone think the firing of Paula Deen was over the top by the food network? [View all]
She used the n word over 20 years ago during a bank robbery with a gun to her head.
She said during testimony that she only said it to her husband describing the bank robbery.
As frequently as I hear the word used now it seems a little ridiculous
by the network to fire here over this
who else agrees?

If they fired her, that's the first I've heard of it. And that's not the reason why. Nice try. n/t

seems appropriate to me (and I don't think it was for simply using the word once 20 years ago)

Or maybe it has to do with the fact she was in a suit for discrimination and harassment?

I am referring to her as a public person. I'm sure her family loves her in spite of her

if that was the only reason-admitting that she said something terrible in private 20 years ago -
