2. Interestingly, according to the NYT today, Kerry and Hagel are at odds over supporting the rebels.

Both gave testimony today. Kerry seems to want to get rid of Assad and support the rebels more strongly, Hagel is reluctant (so is Gen. Dempsey). Kerry has Obama's ear, I think--Obama is giving the rebels more stuff and is sending more troops to Jordan. Carl Levin was pissy that Hagel and Dempsey weren't being more forceful about taking out Assad.

BTW, I don't trust that the Sharia law they impose will be a kind and gentle form. I think they're saying that to get our aid and backing.
