I know the value minus any amount owed on the car has to equal a set dollar amount as part of the federal qualifications process and not negotiable. Here is what you said the caseworker said "since I was under "retirement age" it would probably have to be liquidated" Probably is the KEY word. If these accounts are not set up as a dedicated account with the funeral home as beneficiary they can force you to liquidate them. If they are properly set up It is questionable whether they can force liquidation.
