Since the rushpublicans can't win national elections they feel compelled to do all they can to make government as dysfunctional as possible. The hopes are the more it doesn't work the more apathetic the electorate will get...get pissed at President Obama for not delivering ponies and stay home, again, in 2014 that will help them take the Senate and totally screw up the country. It's true slash and burn of not just their corrupt and inept party but to the country on the whole. It's all for personal and political gain.
Gramps is still pissed about the '08 election and seems his only purpose for remaining in Washington to be a pain in everyone's ass. He doesn't care how hypocritical he sounds...he's got scores to settle and Hagel is on that list. His tantrums give cover to the rest of the party who are worried about their great unhinged...getting on the wrong side of rushbo and the teabaggers and facing primaries. Thus this was all but to be expected...and modus operandi for the next two years...non-stop constant obstructions and attempts to make people hate government.
Looks like the White House is now ready for a fight...these confirmation hearings could be doozies...
