3. Besides a heavy dose of racism, my theory for all the obstruction

is that the GOP'ers are greatly embarrassed that their pick of the Bush regime turned out to be such a colossal disaster for the economy and the country's reputation internationally, that they feel they have no choice but rage against the machine (Dem's now in power) to do everything they can to keep the nation's focus on character assassination of the Democratic leadership. They did not get the permanent republican majority Rove promised, lost power, and are so pissed that they don't dare turn their rage against Bush lest they be in the bottom of a sewer pit deeper than they are now.

If I was part of the loss of 2 wars and a doubling of the national debt in just 8 years, I too would do everything in my power to keep the eye off the failed Bush regime and try to blame everything on the successor. Even if the president was not black, I think those confirmation numbers would be close to what you are showing, even if it was Hillary.

They f*cked up badly. They will be screwed in the history books. They can campaign like no others, but they can't govern worth a damn. Our only out is to defeat them in 2014 and then govern well enough to nullify their existence.
