Twinkies fan upset over purchase limit causes disturbance at Buffalo Grove store
(BUFFALO GROVE) With Hostess Twinkies rapidly disappearing from store shelves and fans snapping up the final production run of the treat, at least one northwest suburban shopper allowed his enthusiasm to get out of hand.
Buffalo Grove police were called just after 9 p.m. Tuesday to the Jewel grocery at 79 N. McHenry Rd. to handle an unruly customer.
The customer was causing a disturbance because a store official would not allow him to purchase a large quantity of Twinkies, a police report said. The store policy allowed each customer to purchase 10 Twinkies, according to police.
Police told the outraged customer the store has the right to set purchase limits, and advised him to buy his 10 Twinkies and leave, which he did.
