Mr President: Follow your gut. [View all]

First of all, there is no cliff. Think about what Harry Truman might do?

This is a defining moment of your Presidency. There is no easy answer. If you want to do what is best for this country, you will let the Bush taxcuts expire. All of them. It is the medicine we have to take for the profligate spending that has enriched a lot of people at the top of the pyramid.

If you must insist on riding this tax horse, forget the $250K limit that makes permanent 80% of the Bush taxcuts. That does not help our country. It only puts our country in a worse situation. Instead, if you continue to love the taxcuts so much, maybe you only let them apply to those making less than $110,000 per year. In other words, the folks who are seeing their taxes go up the most under your plan. Especially, once the payroll tax is re-instituted.

Mr President, it is a time for courage. Please do not compromise anymore. Do what Harry Truman would do. Tell the Republicans to "Go to Hell!".
