Tesla developed AC motors. He didn't develop electric distribution. Edison did.

Luckily, Edison was a strong agnostic, almost an atheist. He also detested war & stayed away from working on inventions that would iad the pursuit of war. The closest he got to working on war-related technology was when he was begged to be president of the 1914 US Navy torpedo research group. After a few months he quit.
