(4,225 posts)Though I am fortunate to live in western Washington where air conditioning is generally not needed, I am aware that it's been a very hot summer most everywhere else and there are plenty of poor people that don't have air conditioning. I still remember the summers I dwelt in Chicago without air conditioning. Not pleasant.
I don't know where this story took place, but ice cream might have been one of the few ways to cool off available to our teabagger bullying victims. If it's 100+ degrees out for days at a time and you can't even get the inside of your crummy apartment below 85 at the dead of night by opening windows because the low is 80, ice cream might be a necessity, not a luxury. But of course rethuglicans don't care if people die from that shit.
