"Lawmakers said they wanted to hold the reading in response to claims by supporters of President Trump that the report exonerated him of collusion or obstruction of justice, despite Mueller’s conclusion that his team could not exonerate Trump on obstruction."

It's a smart move. Trump and his many sycophants in the White House and Congress keep insisting it's "case closed" and "time to move on" because of their oft-repeated lie that the Mueller Report says Trump didn't collude with Russians or obstruct justice.

When only about 3 percent of the public have actually read the report and are thus more apt to believe GOP lies, then it's not unreasonable for Dems to read it to them so they can hear the truth.
