MizzM's JournalSeems like there are a few bugs in the system
I have been asked just the once to be on the jury so I can't relate exactly to what happened to you. You indicated that you would serve, and then what? No response at all? At least I did get a message after that. I'm wondering if too many potential jurors answering all at one time might gum up the works, but I'm not a techie.
Yes, I was asked to serve on a Jury
Have to say with only 30-something posts to my name, I was kinda surprised. Is this a mistake, I asked myself, not feeling qualified. By the time I looked at it for awhile, walked away, came back and finally clicked yes, I got the message that it was too late, that they had already had all the jurors for a particular period of time. So you do have to answer in a timely manner.

Is there a more ridiculous euphemism in our language than Pro Life? What it really means is Anti Choice.
Thanks Redqueen
for your Welcome. I am trying to affix a smiley here, but apparently I am technically challenged. So, a big smile from me.
How NH pays for schools, etc.
You wouldn't believe the property taxes! The money has to come from somewhere.
Grammas are special
My Condolences to you and your family. My Nana passed away in 1969, and I still remember her so well. She left me a pin that I always admired, and I still have that pin all these years later.
Fiesta ware - made in the USA
A few years ago I set out on a quest to find some coffee mugs made in America. I flipped over a lot of mugs, I can tell you. And most are made in China. I finally came across Fiesta ware. Colorful, quality products, and they have always been made in this country (West Virginia, I believe). I have since expanded my Fiesta ware to plates, and I just love the product. I noticed in a recent flyer from JC Penney that they are now carrying Fiesta ware.
Profile Anonymity
Anyway, having recently arrived at membership status, I find myself on many occasions clicking on a poster's name to get a feel for who the person is that is making these comments. Are they male, female, young, old, where they live? And generally what I find is NOTHING. I'm not looking for height, weight, bra size, etc., but why don't more DU's give out information as to who they are?
Seniors on Medicare
It's insurance decision time again. Since I am new, and DU is a wonderful source of information, I thought I would ask some of the seniors what you have for insurance in order to help me make choices for 2013. Do you prefer Original Medicare with a separate prescription plan, a Medicare Advantage (HMO, PPO, PFFS) that includes prescriptions, or one that does not include Rx coverage? If you could afford it, would you include a Medigap (supplemental) policy that picks up the 20% not paid by original Medicare?
There are lots of choices, and I'm just wondering what you all think. Thanks for your suggestions.
Not the first time for an earthquake in NE
Some years ago (less than 10), I was living in Southeastern Mass. I awoke early one weekend morning to a loud rumbling noise. I looked out the window for an explanation. Nothing. It was all quiet. I began to consider the possibility that the basement furnace was about to explode. It was really frightening. I went out into the kitchen with the thought of removing myself from the house. I looked at my pot rack, and the pots and pans are all swaying back and forth as if propelled by some unseen hand. I have never seen the like. Sometime later it was reported on the news that an earthquake had occurred somewhere in New England.
