Congress quietly ends federal ban on medical marijuana

Tucked deep inside the 1,603-page federal spending measure is a provision that effectively ends the federal government's prohibition on medical marijuana and signals a major shift in drug policy..

The bill's passage over the weekend marks the first time Congress has approved nationally significant legislation backed by legalization advocates. It brings almost to a close two decades of tension between the states and Washington over medical use of marijuana.

Under the provision, states where medical pot is legal would no longer need to worry about federal drug agents raiding retail operations. Agents would be prohibited from doing so.

I, like I believe the president himself, do not think the Nobel Committee made the right choice when they gave him the Peace Prize. However, if he reaches a nuke deal with the Iranians and prevents another major war, then he will have earned it.

I saw American Sniper. Good movie, not a great movie. Certainly wasn't some big political statement. And It was nowhere near as good as this, as far as sniper movies go.

Certain people and movements in history do seem to cross some sort of depravity threshold. Pol Pot and piles of skulls come to mind. I think the ISIS loons crossed it for sure with their snuff films and mass beheadings. This thing is not unique but it is rare, though not rare enough.
