suston96's JournalHere is how the SS Trust Fund works, and more.......
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/ProgData/fundFAQ.html#n4Take the trouble to read these very simple instructions.
The Trust Fund is not green cash stored in warehouses. It cannot be stolen by anybody.
SS funds collected from payroll and elsewhere MUST be invested by law. They earn considerable interest, enough to pay administrative costs of the SS system.
Put away the suicide kit......
That was only one judge and one court. A way to go yet.
The French Revolution......
http://history.hanover.edu/courses/excerpts/111dec.htmlIt is the French Declaration of Rights written in 1789 by the Marquis de Lafayette, with the assistance of his good friend Thomas Jefferson........yes, that Thomas Jefferson.
I do not see a "right to bear arms". Maybe I missed it.
What sense does it make to establish a democratic society guaranteeing the rights and safety of its citizens and then guaranteeing each citizen the right to possess and carry arms to "protect" those rights himself? So when an individual thinks his rights are under attack he goes out and fires away?
The society is created to insure the rights of its members specifically because an individual cannot and indeed, should not, by himself attempt to protect his own rights.
That is why he joins that society which forms that government whose sole purpose is the common defense and the common security.
We have rights crafted and affirmed for our individual protection,,,,,,,,
The constitution guarantees the right to own and carry guns.......
The people made the Constitution, and the people can unmake it.
It is the creature of their will, and lives only by their will.
Chief Justice John Marshall, 1821
The Second Amendment was a horrible mistake. Change it so that it makes sense.
Instead of arguing recall how about discussing......
....whether this new law would violate other aspects and mandates of the US Constitution? Like the right to a speedy trial....(Amend. VI)?
"AMENDMENT VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense."
Someone has already pointed out.....
There is only so much a President can do WITHOUT a Congress or with an opposing Congress.
Gee, when is the last time a President was in such a pickle where he cannot get diddly from an opposing Congress?
Matt Damon is a great artist but, as someone above has already indicated, he knows, uh - diddly - about how our government works.
And neither do most people who continue to blame a President, of whatever party, who accomplishes little during a term when opposed by Congress at every turn.
In the Constitution, the Congress comes first, then the Executive, then the Supreme Court. Responsibility for getting things done works in the same order.
Or - The President proposes - the Congress disposes - or NOT!
You know what scares me?
Driving down the road and suddenly coming back to reality and wondering how did I come so far down the road and I can't remember anything about that distance!?!
No cell phone or CD or anything else. Just my brain - all wrapped up in text messaging itself and completely oblivious to my driving, road conditions and whatever else involves driving hundreds of pounds of deadly machinery moving along at 60 plus mph.
Human beings cannot do 2 things at the same time and give full attention to driving. No way.
The Republican Secretary of Transportation is wrong and is clearly supporting the big businesses involved with wireless communications. Shame on him.
Ya wanna use a cell phone in your car? Pull over into a rest stop and text away! Not while driving.
