Mad_Machine76's JournalIt's absurd to say his Presidency is "over"
When he is......ummm..still President until 1/20/2017 or he resigns or is impeached, neither of which (surprise) is going to happen.
All the women I know hate having expanded access to health care for themselves and their families
just like all of them also hate:
1. Birth Control (many of them want old white men to prevent them from having access to contraception so that they might become the next Michelle Duggar and have 19 kids- or more)
2. Sexual & Reproductive Freedom (many women LOVE having old white men have legal control over their uteruses and genitals and enjoy being made into sex objects and incubators for them- even when brain dead. Many of them also thrill to unnecessary Transvaginal Ultrasounds).
They will surely vote for the Republicans in droves this year! The best part (for them) is that Republicans really mean what they say when it comes to "womens issues" and will surely deliver on their campaign promises made to their American Taliban-populated "base" and attempt to deliver all of these things (and more) just for them if they take control of the House AND Senate!
(except for most of that last part)
Just so that I'm clear
Republicans believe that- in order to (correctly) support the burgeoning "democracy" in Iraq- we should have basically just said FU to the Iraqi government and thumbed our nose at the SOFA that George W. Bush negotiated with them in 2008 and kept our troops in Iraq past 2011 despite the decision made by their democratically-constituted government at the time to refuse to approve further US troop presence in their country? I'm not even sure that John McCain- had he been elected- would've been mind-blowingly stupid enough to thumb his nose at the Iraqis that way and essentially re-establish an (even more) illegal occupation of Iraq and instigate severe reprisals on our troops. Yet, that's basically what they seem to be implying should have been done (they haven't made any other suggestions, have they?) by complaining about President Obama removing troops from Iraq per the 2008 SOFA and "allowing" it to descend into chaos. Of course, though, as we all know, Republicans don't have to (and don't) come up with real solutions to real problems- they just need to blame President Obama for..............something.
I wonder
if McConnell appreciates the irony of him decrying the Democrats' refusal to hold a vote on this bill. I guess he believes that we should hold votes on things REPUBLICANS care about while mindlessly blocking votes on Democratic-backed bills?
Who wants Mitt Romney as POTUS IN 2016
And why? I'm confused.
BTW Does he and the rest of the GOP believe that POTUS can control the rest of the world and everything can be resolved by our military and, more importantly, do they think that they are going to get the public to rally around ANOTHER several wars around the globe?
"I don't have my talking points written"
It sucks that no matter how awful a candidate he may be he currently is the most likely winner.
Saw this coming miles away
Not putting much stock in it and who do the Republicans got who can seriously match her? Republicans don't have any policies and they are losing their demographics too. The only thing they have is a guaranteed spot on the ballot.
If I were ever in the military
I would be scared to death to be serving under under a Republican (mis-)administration ever. They're probably going to shift gears if and when they win the WH again but who's going to take the chance seeing what's going on right now- the thought that if you get captured, Fox and right-wingers will determine your value and determine if you're "worthy" enough of being rescued/recovered at some point. I wonder what a lot of soldiers must be thinking right now seeing what they're doing to Bowe. No doubt some of them are heavily plugged into Limbaugh and Fox and probably think that they're all going to be worth saving if THEY wind up captured but some of them probably are re-thinking their dedication to their job if Republicans get to occupy the WH again. Maybe? The GOP just keeps pushing the envelope further. They've eliminated the taboo around torture, indefinite detention, and, apparently, now they've decided that they get to pick and choose the fate of our captured servicemembers depending on whether they are "likable" or "American" enough.
Never mind
That there is currently no replacement for Shinseki sitting in his seat prepared to fix things. His resignation was a mistake though it was inevitable once a bunch of Dems jumped on board.
