Has anyone tried Paula Deene's recipes? Are they any good?

I haven't tried them, and am not interested in doing so. But I figure: if you put enough butter, salt and sugar in it, you can make anything taste good.

So I'm curious as to any real skill or talent she may have.

Not that I'd care otherwise. If she falls into utter obscurity, it would be simple justice, and nothing else...

Saturday, August 24th. The Weekend Edition of William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day.

"Virtuous and holy, chosen from above,
By inspiration of celestial grace,
To work exceeding miracles on earth."

Henry VI, Part I, Act V, Scene 4, Lines 39-41.

How fitting that she should have the face of an angel...

Wonderful (but busy!) day in clinic today makes up for the graduate-level awful of Wednesday.

Saw twenty patients today, including four general physical exams in a row!

I'm beat.

But feeling fine. Every single patient today was 10 kinds of wonderful. And my take away is I did good medicine, too.

Life is good.

I love you all, my Lounge friends, for your sympathy, your hugs, and your good will...

Tough case in clinic today. Rape victim.

I started to type out the story, then stopped. I can't just yet.

Hold me...

Saw Seattle Opera's 'Ring' Cycle last week. All four operas in six evenings.

What a triumph of the collaborative arts: music, vocal, acting, directing, set design. It was amazing.

Seattle is justifiably proud of its 'green' Ring, basing a number of sets upon the mountains and lush forests of the Pacific Northwest.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience I'll never forget...

William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day is postponed; until this evening, at the soonest.

My deepest apologies.

Will had a little too much to drink last night. I imagine he and Phillip Henslowe were arguing over 'Hamlet' again...

When I shook him awake, his response was: "God's Wounds, mate! What time of day is it? Have I slept too long, then?"

I thought about quoting Prince Hal at him, but since Will isn't fat, it wouldn't have made sense...

Saw a few "Impeach Obama!" signs outside Bellevue Square Mall today.

I didn't stop to find out what their damage is. I refuse to spend my higher reasoning faculties on the brainless blatherings of mental defectives...

On the drive up here, I was stuck behind a pickup truck with this sign in the rear window of the cab:

"S.O.B! Sick Of Obama! - and then some smaller, unreadable bullshit, likely stuff like "Get to work; millions on welfare depend on you."

I wish these fuckbrains would move to Idaho or someplace, and quit polluting my beloved Evergreen State...

I just I&D'd the NASTIEST sebaceous cyst!

Huge thing. I thought it was a lipoma. I made my incision, and all kinds of nasty-smelling stuff splooged out!

I love procedures, but this one needed iron guts.

Now I'm off!

Happy Hour is here!!!...

Having some ale and some wi-fi problems with Will Shakespeare.

Finally got back on the net, so ask us anything...

In your opinion, Vangelis's greatest film soundtrack.

He won the Oscar for "Chariots Of Fire', and that iconic running theme. He received critical acclaim for his soundtrack to "Missing".

But I recently downloaded his soundtrack to Ridley Scott's film "1492 - Conquest Of Paradise", and it is quite simply astonishing. I think it's superior to "CoF".

Any opinions?
