Wells Fargo Fires Iowa Worker for Minor 1963 Crime

Source: Yahoo

Wells Fargo Home Mortgage (WFC) has fired a Des Moines worker over a 1963 incident at a Laundromat involving a fake dime in the wake of new employment guidelines.

Richard Eggers, 68, was fired in July from his job as a customer service representative for putting a cardboard cutout of a dime in a washing machine nearly 50 years ago in Carlisle, the Des Moines Register reported Monday.

Warren County court records show Eggers was convicted of operating a coin-changing machine by false means. Eggers called it a "stupid stunt," but questions his firing.

My grandmother passed away this morning.

She was in very bad shape this morning, so they took her to the hospital. When she arrived, she had gone into cardiac arrest. They tried CPR, but they couldn't revive her.

She hadn't been doing well for several years, but this was somewhat of a surprise.

She has a plot next to my grandfather at a cemetery in Detroit.

She was 88. We're glad she lived a long life.

It's nice that they go to church, what's even nicer is that they actually live their faith!

Man steals bikes because he wanted to speak with cops

A 23-year-old Hastings man faces felony charges for stealing bicycles because, he said, he "felt this was a way to be able to speak with the cops.”

On August 10, the police received a call about a man pushing a bicycle away from the Ace Hardware Store on E. State Street and across the Michigan Avenue bridge. When police arrived, the man admitted he broke into the store and took the bike, then took police to an unused warehouse where he had hidden five other bikes he previously stole.

The man, Mark Lewis Wellman Jr., said he'd been drinking and hoped to get caught because he “had nothing else to do and felt this was a way to be able to speak with the cops," police said.

Later that day, a police car had a flat tire, and Wellman also admitted letting the air out.

As A Lobbyist, Paul Ryan's Wife Made A Career Representing Cigar Interests

Before she became known to the world as Mrs. Paul Ryan, the vice presidential hopeful's stay-at-home wife, Janna Ryan made quite a name for herself in Washington's legal circles.

Janna Ryan graduated from Wellesley College and earned her law degree from George Washington University.

And that impressive education paid off.

"Over just three years, Ryan's 20 corporate clients paid more than $2.7 million in lobbying fees to her two employers, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Williams & Jensen," The Huffington Post reported Tuesday, citing records compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.

X-ray reveals drunk tourist sleeping on baggage belt at Rome airport

A Norwegian tourist has been caught on X-ray sleeping on a moving baggage belt at Rome's Fiumicino airport.

The unnamed 36 year-old man reportedly climbed over one of the check-in desks and fell asleep on the belt that takes luggage to be loaded on to planes.

When the belt started moving, he travelled for around 50m curled up in the foetal position.

He apparently remained asleep after staff spotted him in the X-ray machine, stopped the belt and alerted police.
