http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-uber-driver-shoots-gunman-met-0420-20150419-story.htmlAuthorities say no charges will be filed against an Uber driver who shot and wounded a gunman who opened fire on a crowd of people in Logan Square over the weekend.
The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others, Assistant State's Attorney Barry Quinn said in court Sunday.
A group of people had been walking in front of the driver around 11:50 p.m. in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when Everardo Custodio, 22, began firing into the crowd, Quinn said.
The driver pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at Custodio, hitting him several times, according to court records. Responding officers found Custodio lying on the ground, bleeding, Quinn said. No other injuries were reported.
Custodio was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds to the shin, thigh and lower back, authorities said.
Custodio, of the 2900 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon charges. He was denied bond during the Sunday court hearing.
The Uber driver, a 47-year-old resident of Little Italy, provided police with a valid concealed-carry permit and a firearm owner's identification card, Quinn said."
Now we wait for the "Could'a, Should'a, Would'a" crowd to show up and remind us that he might have hit innocent bystanders, but he didn't, he hit the bad guy with a gun shooting at innocent bystanders 3 out of 6 shots. Or as an alternative another post about a gun accident or crime.
Here's what the Chicago cops wrote.

"You'll never guess what really happened:
As Custodio was allegedly opening fire on the crowd Friday, an Uber driver with a concealed-carry permit picked up his own firearm and shot Custodio multiple times, according to prosecutors and court records.
The Uber driver, a 47-year-old Little Italy resident, has a firearm owner's identification card and acted in self-defense and the defense of others, Assistant State's Attorney Barry Quinn said Sunday in bond court.
No charges have been filed against the Uber driver, police said.
The incident began about 11:50 p.m. Friday in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, Quinn said. The Uber driver was parked on the east side of the street, while Custodio was on the west side, he said.
A group of people were walking in front of the Uber driver on his side of the street when Custodio suddenly began firing at them, causing them to scatter, Quinn said.
The Uber driver then pulled out a gun and fired six rounds at Custodio, striking him multiple (3) times, according to court records."

(5,455 posts)So the taxi driver stopped a possible active shooter (The offender's motive wasn't stated in the article)
The taxi driver hit him with 3 of six shots, a 50% hit ratio, which is better then most police shootings and didn't hit any innocent bystanders.
If you listen to the gun control extremists, it must mean it is a full moon, swine have taken flight and hell has frozen over, all at the same time.

(12,778 posts)had shot back at him and hurt a bunch of people? This so-called "licensed gun owner" would have blood on his hands!
Of course I'm being sarcastic. Just wanted to beat the usual gun-ban crowd to the first "guns are always bad" comment here.
Seriously, kudos to this brave man.
