Bernie, Corporate Media and the truth.
We should not focus on conspiracy theories any more than we should focus on hostility coming from various camps. All we have to do is keep working for Bernie, for the most part. Having said that, we should always fight lies and misinformation about Bernie.
We cant allow what happened to Gore in the War on Gore waged by the corporate media in 2000.
We cant allow what happened to Dean in Iowa in 2004.
We cant allow what happened to Kerry, when he was Swift-Boated in 2004.
We cant allow what happened to Obama with the birthers, etc.
Facts:
1. Bernie has not gotten the media coverage he deserves.
We used the Nexis database to see how often various news outlets had mentioned Sanders and Trump since July 1. The biggest gap we found was in the medium that reaches the most voters: broadcast network TV. On average, ABC, CBS and NBC named Sanders in their news stories 17 percent as often as they named Trumproughly one story that included the senator for every six with the developer.

2. Bernies most important moment in the first Democratic debate was distorted through editing.
I am referring to his damn emails" statement. In context, his statement was a direct attack on the corporate media and an implicit attack on Hillarys record on free trade, especially the TPP. But the corporate media spun it as a moment of conciliation with her. Notice that she decelerates her nodding agreement when Bernie mentions free trade agreements.

3. CNN pledged in 2007 to make the full debate videos available to the public without restrictions. See 7:50 of the link below.

4. They upheld that pledge in the CNN GOP debate in 2015- They shut down no citizen channel of it (as far as I know) and it is still up unedited.
5. They broke that pledge with respect to the CNN Democratic debate by shutting down Bernie 2016 tv.
6. CNN created a Best of Hillary video on their youtube channel in the wake of the debate.
http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2015/10/14/best-of-hillary-clinton-democrati-debate-las-vegas-election-2016-ar-origwx.cnn
7. CNN did not create a Best of video for any other Democratic candidate. Try to find one. I couldnt.
The motivation of CNN is irrelevant. Their treatment of Bernie and those citizens trying to exercise their first amendment rights in support of him is very relevant.
And now, back to working for the revolution!

(3,813 posts)Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.
Then Bernie will win.

(11,945 posts)NPR's "On the Media," discussing the debate, described him in totally negative terms, the New Yorker has a mean-spirited piece on him in their coverage of the Democratic race, and the New York Times, which crowed about Hillary after the debate, ran a nasty little video a couple of days ago showing Vermonters making fun of him.
It's crystal clear: the corporate-owned MSM wants to defeat him. They want to turn him into a joke, they want to make him out to be a bad guy, they want to depict him as a marginal candidate.
I find it depressing and angering. It makes it all the harder to support Hillary should she get the nomination.
