Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThe Latino Community is Learning about Bernie and they Like what they see.
Cesar Vargas is a writer at Huffpo and while initially he says, he had no interest in Bernie thinking his supporters were just like other supporters of candidates who didn't have a chance, overzealous with 'blind spots, like Ron Paul's supporters eg. now he feels differently.
Once he began to learn about Bernie, he completely changed his mind. He has asked that we share his article where he tells the Latino Community why they need to vote for Bernie, with as many people as possible. I have done so here:

(45,251 posts)But, second, what does it say about Vargas and/or Huffpo that he was not familiar with Sanders before this? There was a bit of a draft Sanders movement in 2012; he did that great filibuster that was turned into a book; and, for years, he's been a regular on MSNBC. How come DUers knew him, but a professional political writer for a supposedly left leaning outlet did not? IMO, if if anyone stands out from the Senate pack ideologically, it's Sanders and Warren and Sherrod Brown, and the once and future king, Russ Feingold.

(62,325 posts)than we knew. Bernie has been working for minorities for decades, NOT to get votes, but because it was the right thing to do.
It will be a huge effort to introduce him to the people for whom he has done so much, but I think we can do it.
I'm glad eg, that people like Vargas have finally discovered him, AND that they like most people who learn about him for the first time, see his long record and realize, he is not a typical politician who caters to people during campaigns, but has been doing the work ALL politicians should have been doing, for his entire adult life.

(45,251 posts)If DUers of all kinds have known of Sanders for years, it's just surprising to me that any professional political writer did not also know about him.
Then again, maybe he used some "poetic license" in writing the story? My sister freelances some, and she is always looking for "a hook" for a story like this.
