(45,120 posts)was Claire attempting to trash Bernie and coming off looking like a fool. You'll have to point out the part that offended you because I was too focused on listening to her.
randys1
(16,286 posts)not a mistake either, this is intentional
Autumn
(45,120 posts)offensive, by her. But that's just me.
Autumn
(45,120 posts)I get it

(16,286 posts)Dont laugh at this, it just exposes you
Autumn
(45,120 posts)and you are outraged by one word the person who posted the video typed? Tell me, do you have any outrage to spare over Claire's words that were pretty damn disgusting that she used against Bernie? Because she came off as pretty damn un Democratic to me.
PowerToThePeople
(9,610 posts)I agree, "Democrat Senator" was incorrect for them to use.
Autumn
(45,120 posts)like she's very Democratic anyway.

(26,449 posts)Individuals are democrats, always have been. The party is the democratic party. McCarthy called the party Democrat or a caucus Democrat.
The example here is a corner case where either is acceptable.

(16,286 posts)I have given you the god damn history of why that word is used that way, to call it my lens is BEYOND outrageous...
Have a nice life, we dont need to communicate anymore.
I only want to communicate with people who understand these issues.

(45,120 posts)You will be blocked. This group is for discussing anything regarding Bernie, if you don't like how someone says something I suggest you step back and ignore it. We don't need a word nanny in here.

(11,175 posts)First, I agree with your general point that the right-wingers frequently misuse "Democrat" where "Democratic" would be correct, that they do so deliberately for its political effect, and that it should be called out.
As to my level of understanding, I've helped get the correct information out there by editing the Wikkipedia article on the subject. (For those who don't want to bother clicking through: There's a separate article on the Democratic Party. I've linked to the article that's specifically about the "Democrat Party" solecism.)
Now, as to this instance: English, unlike some other languages, allows a construction in which two or more nouns are rammed together. It has a technical name that I forget. As an example, the body that governs world chess is known even in English as FIDE, from its French name, Fédération Internationale des Échecs. The English translation is World Chess Federation. In French, however, you can't just put three nouns in a row like that, so it's noun-adjective-prepositional-phrase. Similarly, DU is a message board or an Internet forum.
Turning (finally) to McCaskill, she is, individually, a Democrat, just as she is a woman. You could call her a female Senator (adjective-noun) but you could also call her a woman Senator or a Missouri Senator (each a noun-noun construction). By analogy, I think "Democrat Senator" is acceptable, even though "Democrat Party" or "Democrat caucus" or the like is not.
ETA: After posting this I finally noticed that randys1 had been blocked and couldn't respond. For the record, I don't agree with randys1 on the substance, and I agree that his/her tone was unnecessarily combative, but I don't agree with the block, either.

(62,325 posts)about her. She is a Third Way Senator. That is a third party that has attached itself to the Democratic Party because they knew they would not have the power to do what they wanted to do to this country as a Third Party. The other party was already taken over, so they decided to insert themselves in our party.
Thankfully the voters have found out and have been kicking them out over the past few years.
Frankly what she tried to do to Sen. Sanders was despicable.
She made a fool of HERSELF and he came off looking even better.
But I would expect nothing less from a Third Way Senator.
Whoever put up the video should call her what she is, a Third Way Senator.

Not that it matters.
I know and am one, liberals who make most people here seem like mainstream, and as much as they all despise the wall street connection of Hillary, and wont vote for her until they have to, they are aware that the alternative really is unacceptable.
My work is making sure people can vote, i do the best I can.
It PISSES me off to think alleged Democrats or liberals WONT vote if X is Y.
I am so tired of arguing with those folks here, I think I am done talking to them.

(17,997 posts)Written by someone that is not here. It's not like posting something from newsmax. We have no way to know what the YouTube poster knows or meant. This contains just the interview.
So your argument should be taken to YouTube.
I don't understand why people can't comment on the subject of a post. Even if you were right to call out the du posters, which I obviously disagree with on this instance, not saying a word about the content of the interview, even when asked, makes no sense to me.

He opposes TPP.
Keep going, Claire. You're doing a great job of campaigning for him, while giving us a glimpse into how your candidate feels.
But, there is one interesting tidbit here. When put on the spot, McCaskill lashed back, "You know what they are Mark. Media is not covering him like a real candidate."
Or words to that effect. And look at the smirk on her face as she says that.
She outed the vast right wing conspiracy between establishment politicians and establishment media to try to keep Bernie from making a dent against Hillary.
