Hello, everyone. This website is a godsend for someone like me, marooned in teabag land. I feel normal here. The world starts to make sense again. If you haven't yet, feel free to check out my profile. I'm happy to hang with you folks.

I hope you have lots of fun here. Writing about your frustrations from living in "teabag land" in General Discussion would probably interesting to read.

Hi,
I like your nickname. I hope you find it enjoyable here. Poke around a bit, there all kinds of interesting groups and areas to explore. I'm stuck in a red state myself, and believe me, many others on here are as well.

Peace

Good to see you IrishAyes, was a bit concerned early on. Am looking forward to reading your posts again. Got tired of the Facebook garbage and naturally the SWAMP was costing me too many showers to clean all the RRWACC stuff off my pristine body.

Glad to see you too. Feel free to skip over most of my stories unless they come with a current date stamp. I'm sure you've heard all my squawks before. But if you accidentally stumble over one, at least you'll notice they're consistent and therefore more likely true.

never doubted any of your posts on any of the forums we have paired up on.

Just don't get over here very much right now. Not anywhere too much. Contract development and engineers starting work takes up too much time.

Now we are starting the planning for the memorial golf classic for meningitis awareness and prevention in memory of my son Mike. so even less time now. but this task is of course a labor of love as you can imagine.

My prayer is that Mike will be allowed to visit you more.

On quite another matter since I've already grabbed your ear, I so wanted O'Malley for Pope. Go figure. But he's a Cappucine and sworn to poverty. He might not have wanted to part with that brown monk's robe, and I suppose they would've expected him to wear shoes at the Vatican.

As for our new Pope Francis, the choice could've gone far worse. At least he's a Jesuit, and you know they tend to represent the intellectual cream of the crop. They said he's also a chemical scientist, refused the archbishop's palace in Argentina for a small apartment outside town, cooked many if not most of his own simple meals, and usually biked or took public transportation to work. So there's a lot in his favor too. You might've seen the simple wooden cross he wore this evening. The funny thing is, although Jesuits take a vow of obedience to the pope, they above all others reserve the right to question and even challenge him. That's good. Archbishop Oscar Romero was a Jesuit if I recall correctly.

Regardless, even more than good health for you, that's going to be my prayer: another visit from Mike.

My best to the Bride and all your family.

because I simply love simple, honest, and compassionate people. Hopefully he will be one of the best that the Church has brought forth.

Granted I would have preferred to have had an Irish or an American one, but at least it is in our hemisphere. AND he chose a pretty darn good name for himself. Francis. would have been better if it had been Frances, but the Church don't allow no female priests or Popes.

The Bride is reasonably healthy once again. Had that heart thingy called an SVT but they think it is under control. We'll see.

The golf outing for meningitis awareness is starting to pick up now. It usually does about a month and a half out. Starting to get golfers, Gallery Supporters and donater supporters hitting the Memorial web site now.

... but not unproductive, I hope. Another thing that's kept me glued to the computer is that I have to go mostly dark during temperate weather when I can be outdoors more. And spring temps preview for the next two days here. Too hot or too cold and I hide indoors, where the internet beckons like a siren.

Sadly I don't remember exactly who told me about DU, but you're one of the nicest bunch of folks I ever met. You supply the diversity I crave and lack where I retired. I could go vegetarian before giving this up. I had fun pretending to scold Skinner for luring me away from my books.

I miss DU when when the temps are in the 60s I love being outdoors.

I think Skinner is so nice. I bet DU has kept him up nights.

Maybe when INtemperate weather returns, we'll have new stories to share.

And yes, maybe we should start a Skinner fan club or something! He's a peach. Ought to be a good influence on me.

What I said upthread goes for everyone.

Please do me the favor of rapping my knuckles if I over react to GOP stuff. My eyes turn red and start to spin, smoke pours out my ears, and sometimes very strange utterances escape my lips. A good sharp rap usually brings me to my senses, though. (It's only effective when applied by liberals, though. Anybody else and it just makes me angrier.)

On that vein, I'll bet Ryan's verbal slip today about wanting to destroy the health care system could prove just as helpful to our side as Mutt's infamous 47% quote. 2014, we take back the House!
