Related: About this forumProblem with jury system?
This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by hunter (a host of the DU Community Help forum).
It's an automated system.
When a poster self-deletes from a thread there's
nothing left to flag, nothing to call attention to.
When you're making the alert, there are only a
very limited number of radio buttons to click. None
of them spells out -- poster may be dishonest --
which was my concern.
I posted a thread and only had one remaining post
that hadn't been self-deleted to flag. That last one,
by itself really didn't tell the whole story, but the
sequence -- if seen in context -- might have revealed
a pattern of unhelpful posting.
That was the reason for my concern, not just the
1.) language
2.) copyright violation, or
3.) avatar
...Clicking "help" at the top right just takes you to this
other place to post. There are no human monitors or
referees any more, anywhere at D.U.?

(53,661 posts)Could be wrong, but thought I read that somewhere, in Meta, perhaps. And if TOS is checked, I think the Alert not only goes to MIRT, but to the Admins. So I'm guessing that some attention might still be paid to what you saying is going wrong with the Jury. I'm sure omeone else knows more about how the DU handles this.
Eyes of the World
(93 posts)I have been here two days and had two posts flagged and hidden by jury.
I think overenthusiastic individuals went too far in policing the site.
I get the sense that DU is developing a groupthink that doesn't tolerate dissent
I can understand that a concerted effort to hijack a thread with multiple replies is something worth stopping, but in both of my flaggings I had only posted once in the thread in question.
So does my posting outside the groupthink constitute "unhelpful posting", or are you referring to something more systemic?
